Well, I've heard The Descent was pretty good, but I have yet to see it. (I don't think it's released on DVD in the US until later this month.) Dead & Breakfast was pretty good as was Shaun of the Dead. It's hard to make recommendations to someone without knowing specifically what type of horror they like or what they've already seen.
