"1408" hits jackpot, #2 at Box-Office
Dimension Films'
Stephen King adaptation
1408 took in an estimated $20,175,000 for the #2 spot at the box office, making it the single highest grossing weekend opening for a
King adaptation!
This also makes
1408 the only really successful horror film of 2007, further prepping the genre for a major climate change... to PG-13.
Could it be that the general horror audience is sick of the buckets of blood and guts?
Can you imagine a PG-13
Halloween or
Saw IV?
The success of the film, however, is extremely important to the genre as it has shown that even in the midst of big summer movie madness a little horror film can still steal a chunk of change from the likes of
Spidey, Shrek, The Fantastic Four and others.
Horror lives baby! Even if it's a little softer.
"Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair" coming in November on DVD
It has already been three years since
Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece
Kill Bill (vol. 1, vol. 2) hit theaters.
The film, which starred
Uma Thurman as a ex-assassin on a road to revenge, was split in two by Miramax due to it's length.
For years they've been promising us the uncut, re-edited single release of the film, which only screened once in it's entirety during a test showing.
This past week
Amazon.com opened pre-orders for what they call
Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair, which is slated for DVD release on November 6, 2007.
You can view and pre-order your copy
here.
Happy Holidays to us indeed!

This will be Ric's directorial debut as he produced
History's Mysteries: Amityville: The Haunting (2000) and wrote the book "
The Night The Defeos Died" (2002).
Dimension Films' are pretty excited about "Mandy Lane"
Originally titled
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Dimension Films' amazing '80s homage,
Mandy Lane, is finally headed to theaters on July 20!
The announcement comes kind of late, but hopefully there will be enough time to give it a sufficient push - one that it really deserves.
In the film a group of high schoolers invite Mandy Lane (
Amber Heard), a good girl who became quite hot over the summer, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to drop quite mysteriously.
