Lionsgate reveals "Transit", announces "Jacob's Ladder" remake
Thousand Words has nabbed "
Transit," a spec thriller by
Michael Gilvary about a family road trip gone horribly awry.
Palmer West and
Jonah Smith, who last produced the untitled
Larry Charles' religion project with
Bill Maher, will produce with
Alison Rosenzweig.
In "
Transit," a family driving through the desert is stalked by criminals who stashed stolen money in the family's car.
The script will go out to directors shortly.
Besides the
Charles/Maher project, currently in post-production,
West and
Smith produced
Chris Gorak's "
Right at Your Door," which Lionsgate is releasing Aug. 24. The duo also produced "
A Scanner Darkly" and "
Requiem for a Dream."
Gilvary recently did a rewrite of
Arthur C. Clarke's "
Rendezvous With Rama" for
Morgan Freeman's Revelations Entertainment. Whitewater Films will begin shooting his coming-of-ager "
Greta" in the fall.
Rosenzweig has several projects in the works, including "
Darksiders" at New Line, "
Sanctuary" at Sobini/Lionsgate and a remake of "
Jacob's Ladder," the classic 1990
Tim Robbins' pic, which follows a traumatized Vietnam war veteran who finds out that his post-war life isn't what he believes it to be when he's attacked by horned creatures in the subway and his dead son comes to visit him.
Tell me, isnt it a wee bit too early to remake
Jacob's Ladder?
