Beowulf and Grendel
I must admit that I am a sucker for anything associated with viking lore, so this review may be tainted by my deep love of the genre, but I really enjoyed this one and wasn't expecting it to be so damned entertaining. The location shooting alone gives a this treatment of the epic poem a sense of reality that one rarely sees. Sure Grendel's costume showed a few seams, but he was there, not CG and for that I was appreciative. I didn't particularly care to see Hrothgar's portrayed as such a pussy, but I liked Gerard Butler and Sarah Polley and really enjoyed Ingvar Eggert Siguršsson's embodiment of Grendel.
I'm still looking forward to Zemekis' super high dollar version of this tale, but this one was quite fun.
