Complete X-Files experience on DVD
FOX has announced
The X-Files –
The Ultimate Collection. This cumulative edition of the hit David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson series will contain all nine seasons as well as the Fight the Future theatrical movie and the four Threads of the Mythology releases.
SRP is $329.98.
Considering that the individual seasons are now usually found for 20 bucks each (for you mathmagicians, that's 180 bucks for the whole run) and the movie for $10-15, I'm not sure what exactly the other $120 or so gets you. The Threads of the Mythology DVDs were just collections of all the mythology episodes, so wouldn't they be in their respective season's DVD?

Plasterhead
I don't know about you, but I love almost any movie where a car full of folks breaks down and they run afoul of something. Texas Chain Saw, Wrong Turn, Feast, etc... love em.
So color me excited for the impending release of
Plasterhead. The film has been picked up for US & Canadian release by Arts Alliance America, and will hit DVD on October 2nd.
Of particular note to horror fans - one of the shooting locations was the famed Blairstown Diner, seen in the original Friday the 13th. The movie revolves around four college students on winter break who, lost in the bowels of West Virginia, run afoul of Plasterhead, a murderous local legend. Between this and Wrong Turn 2, West Virginia officials' heads are going to explode this fall.

Driftwood
Tim Sullivan's atmospheric follow-up to 2001 Maniacs, Driftwood, is finally hitting DVD on November 13th. Riddled with guilt over the loss of his rock star older brother, 16 year old David Forrester (Ricky Ullman) becomes obsessed with death, leading his misguided parents to send him to Driftwood, an "Attitude Adjustment Camp for Troubled Youths" run by the sadistic Captain Doug Kennedy (Diamond Dallas Page) and his brutal young henchman, Yates (Talan Torriero). Once there, David becomes haunted by the spirit of Jonathan (Connor Ross), a former inmate who met a mysterious end; a mystery whose resolution could very well be David's only way out.
