I just got back from watching Halloween. I was 1 of 6 people in the theatre, but it's a week day afternoon.

Halloween

The acting was fine, but the characters were all one dimensional cliches. The gore was plentiful, but not original. The plot abandoned logic on several ocasions and the haunting atmosphere of the original was nowhere to be found. Rob Zombie took one of the Top 5 horror films of all time and remade it into a completely average, run of the mill, slasher film. Graphic violence, tons of swearing and plenty of nudity is usually a recipe for a great horror film in my book, but not when it's a remake of Halloween.

Original - Minimal swearing, Remake- Maximum swearing
Original - Minimal onscreen violence, Remake - Maximum onscreen violence
Original - No nudity, Remake - Plenty of nudity
Original - Haunting atmosphere, Remake - No atmosphere
Original - Solid script, Remake - Illogical script

Original - A, Remake C+
