I've been playing "Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction". PS3.
There's been times I've watched my younger brother play the PS2 titles of this series which always looked quite good, and I've had a go at "size matters" on the PSP, which I thought was ok, I guess pretty good for a handheld game of this type, but I felt it lacked any real depth.
So...not really a "fan" of the series.
Now, as most of you know I work for Playstation, so I get to play a lot of the newer games that have/will come out...and I have to say that, with not a doubt in my mind, this is one of the best games on the PS3.
Good learning curve, lots of items and weapons, a great range of enemies, beautiful scenery and graphics (seriously, it's fucking slick AS) great "adventure" storyline and feel, it's funny without being over the top stupid, and it's difficulty level is fine, gets progressively harder but none of the puzzles, bosses, or levels are overly hard (I'm about 70% through), great amount of open ended exploration, tons of hidden areas.
It's honestly one of the most well made games I've ever seen, and I'd recommend it for children and adults alike - this would be the perfect game for a parent to play "with" a child too.

I liked the first one, I didn't care for the rest.

Kind of like the first Jak & Daxter. The others were good, but not as good as the first.
I wouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon on the basis of ANY of the previous versions of the game, but hey, if you liked the first, maybe check out this one on ps3 when you get a chance, it's at very least worth a hire - a LOT of effort went into this game, and it's almost flawless, and very fun.
