Lucifer Valentine interview part 1.
For the readers reference.
NFNN- No fancy names needed.
LV-Lucifer valentine.
This was originally going to be a longer interview, which is still planned on my part, but time needs to be found to do so. But with the release of ReGOREgitated Sacrifice we (as in we here at NFNN) figure that it would be better for both party's to release part one of the interview.
NFNN-Lucifer valentine is the name you go by, but I'm sure many people are wondering if this is just an alias for your filmmaking or is it actually your name?
LV-Lucifer Valentine is the name of my character is SLAUGHTERED VOMIT DOLLS; I named myself that with the idea that as a child, Ameara's LaVey's character, Angela Aberdeen, made up this Lucifer Valentine as a imaginary friend to help her leave her body as she was being severly sexually and mentally/emotionally abused growing up. Lucifer Valentine actually IS Angela; its her manifested outside of her conscious idea of herself and her body so that she can displace her feelings of helplessness and sadness from her abuse onto a trusted confidant and protector.
NFNN-Mind telling us a little about yourself, background, film training, and such?
LV-I learned how to make movies by filming my baby sister Cinderella when we were growing up; she was blind and I had to take care of her, we were in love and had an incest relationship, and she was always performing and doing all kinds of strange behaviors for me on camera. Cinderella liked talking in slow low demonic voices for long periods of time for no apparent reason, and that's actually why I like to slow down voices in my movies, I am imitating my baby sister's voice as a little girl.
I grew up in Arniston, South Africa taking care of my sister as my parents were usually away at work (they were terrestrial invertebrate researchers; they studied bugs). My parents are Satanists and raised me that way which has had an influence on my artwork and movies.
NFNN-Slaughtered vomit dolls is the first film that I'm aware that you have created, but is this true?
LV-Well yeah SLAUGHTERED VOMIT DOLLS is the first film that I've actually edited together and released; I have hundreds of hours of stuff that I've videotaped my whole life but its not necessarily for the public.
NFNN-Slaughtered vomit dolls (referred to later in the interview as SVD) sold out pretty quickly, any plans on re-releasing it?? With that, is it going to get the same packaging as the original?
LV-I definitely plan to re-release SVD right after I release ReGOREgitated Sacrifice, this second edition of SVD will have new packaging and will be authored on DVD slightly differently with some different extra features, it will be AWESOME because I will do all the authoring, packaging, layout etc. so it'll be exactly how I want it !!
NFNN-Have you been happy with the reactions you have gotten from SVD??
LV-Yes definitely !! I've met tons of great people from all over the world through releasing SVD and its been a really great time so far ! My main goal with releasing SVD was to expose people to a brand new genre of film Vomit Gore, and along with that goes a new way of conceptualizing and perceiving horror and gore.
NFNN- One of the common complaints I hear about SVD, is that some of the dialog is difficult understand, is there plans on captioning your future project filmed in the same manner as SVD?
LV-Actually yes in the second installment of the Vomit Gore Trilogy, ReGOREgitated Sacrifice, isubtitled parts of Angela's dialogue when it was difficult to hear.
NFNN-From the bits and pieces that I've seen of SVD the editing was quite impressively done, how long did it take you to edit the footage to achieve such a look? Also who did the editing?
LV-THANKS ! I did the editing myself, it took about six months to cut SVD, it was pretty intricate but was a lot of fun and the fragmented edit helps tells the delusional story of Angela.
NFNN-You and Kingdom of hell Productions, have gotten a lot of flank for the way you went about advertising on message boards, has this shown in some reviews?
LV-I own the company along with my executive producer No One Body, and yeah at first some people were upset and quite surprised by my appearance on message boards with a brand new thing they'd never heard of before! I understand and it's no big deal to me; most people fear the unknown and may also have negative attitudes to change or new things and that's certainly their right to do so. I, on the other hand, am an artist and I also have the right to express myself freely and public forums are nothing but FUN to me ! I think its weird that angry people on some forums would take everything so seriously.
NFNN-Rumor has it that you were offered a deal with Unearthed films to release SVD, is this true? And any reason in specific you turned it down?
LV-I love Unearthed Films and I'm not exactly sure why we didn't do distro with them for SVD bit I plan to contact them regarding further releases because I think that'd be cool.
NFNN-The second movie in the SVD universe has been in production for a while, any news about this project that you would like to share??
LV-ReGOREgitated Sacrifice's release has been delayed because no DVD manufacturing company, DVD artwork company, online credit card processing company or DVD authoring company or web page design company would work with me on this movie! So, I learned how to everything to manufacture and release my movies MYSELF!!
It took a little extra time but it'll be worth it in the long run.
NFNN-As I've been told you've been a busy man, can you tell us what you have been up too?
LV-I shot a movie about Date Rape called A PERFECT CHILD OF SATAN and I made a documentary about Heroine addiction called BLACK METAL VEINS as well as starting to shoot the third and final installment of the Vomit Gore Trilogy!! So, yeah I've definitely been busy!!
