How do you all feel about the fame of movies which have a leading actor passing away after a role.
I'm not old enough to remember, but from what I've read the tragedy of James Dean was what really rocketed him and his movies to stardom. I confess I haven't seen a James Dean movie. Maybe I should.
Some to think about
:
The Crow.
I enjoyed the movie, which inspired me to read the James O'barr comics. How does everyone else feel about Brandon Lee's tragic death on the set? Is that what truly made the film into a cult classic, or do you feel it's strong enough to hold its own?
The Dark Knight.
Maybe I'm biased because I've always been a Batman fan and a huge Christian Bale fan. There are a lot of great actors in this movie, and the script was well done. Was it as great to me as the hype? Hardly anything ever is when it comes in that large of portions, but the only thing I found disappointing myself is that it didn't follow the Long Halloween/Dark Victory story line like I had hoped.
What are your feelings on death of an actor in correlation to hype/fame of certain films?
