2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Watched this with a friend today that had never seen it.

Made in U.S.A. (1966)

Like most of Godard's color work, it seems impenetrable at first, but in (and with) time reveals itself as a confident, ferocious, "everything but the kitchen sink" piece of filmmaking. A cinematic scrapbook for the political, social, literary, and even a lingering sense of panic; Godard barrages us with references, plot holes (?), faulty editing, cartoonish violence, non-sequiturs, all pasted together and propelled with an acute force, what might be the undoing of cinematic technique. For my money, it's one of the best of Godard's work. The mark of a true revolutionary and maverick egoist (which works, for him).
