What an absolute surprise gem! I had seen the movie cover a few times, but didn't actually get around to watching it until read about it in last months
Rue Morgue magazine and they gave it a pretty good review. A remake of the Philippine
Sigaw, I thought that it captured a genuinely creepy and a feeling of pure dread. I thought that this was honestly a good, scary movie. It's definitely atmospheric and the direction is incredible - Slow, elaborate, very Hitchcockian - It's clear that the Writer/Director didn't just want to roll out another remake; this move was done artfully.
Great creepy little horror movie and definitely one of the best of 2008. I HIGHLY recommend it... And now I need to see the original.
