The Changeling (1980). This was simply a solid ghost story laid out on film. There are no riveting special effects or other cheap scares, but instead a simple tale told with conviction. George C. Scott is wonderful in the movie, and his real-life wife and other cohorts are just as solid. The score in itself deserves mention, for its contributions made for a riveting movie experience. The direction was solid, and the only complaint might be the be the ostensibly apparent crew and camera shadows that make way too many debuts. Be that as it may, one of these errors actually raised some hairs as it came about at a critical moment, so maybe its presence was intentional. Who knows? Ashe.
