Dr. Strangelove (1964). Stanley Kubrick has indeed performed a miracle here by capturing the tragic absurdity of human nature in the form of cinematic satire. What is amazing is the temerity engendered in making fun of one of the most feared subjects ever conceived by mankind. The story was wonderful, but it was the acting that made it so. Peter Sellers kills his three parts, George C. Scott delivers an over-the-top performance accentuated with facial expressions that are hilarious. Sterling Hayden’s role was a piece of serious hilarity. And Slim Picken’s role was fantastic, with one on the most memorable scenes in film history. Let us not forget the eye gracing beauty of Tracy Reed as Ms. Foreign Affairs. Everything about this movie was simply perfect, an explosive classic that will never go out of style. Ashe.
