Tears of the Sun (2003). The beginning of this flick strongly hinted of an unbelievable and contrived story. In truth, this formula continued, but the fashion in which the story unraveled made up for this stench of Hollywood. In essence, it turned into am entertaining flick that dealt with some rather disquieting facets of human nature whilst trying to establish some overall message as to the duty of first world peoples to act in the affairs of others. Quite an endeavor, and to have done so in an entertaining fashion allots for its fanfare. The acting was solid, with Monica Belluci's role as the "package" that just happened to be wonderfully hot a real delight. Director Antoine Fuqua does a solid job here, but the mainstream feel of this flick a tad disappointing. The saving grace for this "nose towards the sheepish general public" was the audacity shown towards the depiction of the atrocities as they were being committed, which were brutal and far from entertaining. Merci beaucoup.
