Blood Meridian is way past the normal suspense or thriller novel --- it's a work of genuine literature, high quality writing, which makes the horror even much more intense. Page after page is filled with nastiness. The account of the Comanche raid is enough to make you run and hide. And as you continue, the character of "The Judge" becomes more and more satanic.
