Anchorman.
Now, I've been here and there about Will Ferrell...and after actually avoiding watching a lot of the films he was in, on account of his humour not really being my style in SNL and the like...though I saw some that I ended up liking of late...Stranger than Fiction was pretty cool, I didn't hate "Land of the Lost" (IMO a more watchable version of the recent "Journey"), Blades of Glory was alright, and I actually think Step Brothers was by far one of the better comedy films I've seen in the last five years.
I'm a bit the same when it comes to Steve Carrell, I actually HATE the office, though I think he did a great job in the "Get Smart" movie, and was likeable in Horton.
So, this movie having had both of them in it is something I avoided like the plague at the time, though these days I'm a little more receptive of their works.
So my friend, who seems to be one of the many people who are simply in love with Anchorman has been trying to convince me to watch it for a while...he dropped over his copy.

My thoughts?
Not good.
I actually turned it off after about 45 minutes...which in all honesty was about a half hour longer than I wanted to give it, but I tried.
I cannot enjoy a film where every few moments I think that it's a comedy film made to entertain stupid people. I know what people say about humour like this...well IMO It's not clever, intentional in its stupidity or otherwise...in my opinion it falls pretty flat, and I actually found myself bored most of the time.
To me this is a prime (another) example of essentially a SNL skit dragged on way too long. Just could not find anything to like about this movie. So yeah I switched it off wondering why the holy fuck, people still rave about this shit...
Now, for those who think I'm just ripping into films that are dumb for the sake of it, well, I sat through Kung Pow at least all the way, terrible as it was, this film was simply incapable of retaining any interest.
It's like kids wrote it, in all honesty - What an embarrassing waste of time.
