Just when you thought the remake mill had churned its way through every conceivable property, a news story comes along to remind you that there's still plenty to plunder.
Yup, producer Neal Moritz has decided that
Starship Troopers is due a remake, having ordered a script from Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz (
Thor, X-Men: First Class).
Moritz is also behind the remake of
Total Recall, another of Verhoeven's culty sci-fis.
Will
Troopers be stripped of its political vitriol and OTT violence by a sanitised remake? It's only guesswork at the moment, but it's safest to presume the worst when it comes to remakes.
There's no word on an intended release date yet.
