Terry Gilliam's BRAZIL might appeal to your tastes, along with Robert Aldrich's WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE. Kubrick's THE SHINING struck me as psychologically bent. The first WICKER MAN, perhaps. No sense bringing up PSYCHO, I'm sure, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Roger Corman's THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM and TALES OF TERROR.
