(EDIT: I just now realised that you were asking about Maniac and not the V/H/S movies... sometimes I read too fast)
I recently watched both movies back to back, and trust me, I am
very prejudiced when it comes to found footage stuff. But I thought the first one was pretty ok, good enough to make me want to watch the second one... and the second one I thought was awesome :) I really liked the mood and the atmosphere that both movies created.
