Grrr, I was in the hospital half the week, which almost made me go through horror movie-withdrawal. Thankfully, I had a nice pile of red Netflix envelopes waiting for me when I got home.
So, my week in movies...
Hell Baby (2013)--I did see the original Scary Movie, but that's as far as my experience with parody/spoof movies goes. I thought this movie was cute, particularly the "kick-ass" Vatican exorcists, but that might just be because I'm R.C.
Bad Milo (2013)--I
really wanted to see this film after I read the summary and I'm glad I did. But again, I think I'm bound to be prejudiced when it comes to a movie dealing with stomach stuff. This film resonates with me for only one reason; I'm currently living with a GI-related chronic illness that is extremely severe, virtually untreatable and incurable and involves frequent hospitalizations (see above), feeding tubes, multiple surgeries, etc. So yeah, I thought it was awesome for a movie like Bad Milo to come along. It was so silly and corny. I think I'm going to make all my doctors watch it, haha.
And last, but certainly not least, I finally got to see Livide (2011)!!! God, this movie was my white whale for a long time. I couldn't find it anywhere, but luckily my computer geek uncle has a regions free DVD/blu-ray player, so I was able to get the DVD from England and watch it. I was actually a bit surprised by Miss Jessel and her daughter's "secret", but the plot was a far-cry from most of the tired cliches one usually associates with these kinds of films. Overall, an enjoyable movie. Now let's just hope they don't move forward with the American remake.
