I don't know if this is something you'd be interested in, but as gastroparesis suggests dysfunction or damage to the vagus nerve, biofeedback/visualisation repetition has been successful in regaining new/proper function (such increased/new nerve connections after a stroke), along with diet, exercise, etc. I just googled that, and I see lots of hits from reputable sources, which doesn't surprise me.
