Unhappy Help with Title - PLEASE!!

Hi all,

When I was 6 years old, I stayed up late one night and happened to watch half of a horror movie.

The details are patchy, but I remember an american family were trapped in their home, there were sheets of iron/metal covering all the external windows and doors, and nobody was able to break through. The house kept getting warmer and warmer ..... I remember the father climbing up the chimney at one stage.

This film gave me recurring nightmares all through my childhood, and I would LOVE to get the title of the movie and watch it again.

Does anyone have any idea what this film was called???

Please help!

Have no clue, but it sounds cool.

by the way, what was so scary about it, that it gave you nightmares for several years?

He was trying to post a picture of the poster for the movie, but the site wont let their pics be posted elsewhere, so that comes up instead. I think.

Was there some weird oozing liquid slowly flowing out of the fireplace, and at the end, they discover that they're the "pets" of a giant alien girl, like in that Twilight Zone episode? And the stuff coming out of the fireplace is the girl's popsicle, which has been slowly melting over the course of the film?

If so, it was:

"Child's Play" a made-for-TV movie, 1985.

It was part of the "Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense" series.
