King Of the Ants

I was up late at night and on showtime was "King of the ants". Its not a horror movie but its directed by Stuart Gordon.

I only seen 15 minutes of it but it looked bad ass. Has anyone seen this movie? any thoughts?

I saw it, but I didn't like it much. I won't go into why because I wouldn't want to ruin anything for you if you haven't seen it. But for one thing, it's got a Baldwin in it, so I should have known it wouldn't be too great, even before I watched it.

I agree with most of your points in your review, 42nd, but the main reason I didn't like this movie was that the entire time I was watching it, I just couldn't honestly believe that this dude killed someone for money BEFORE getting paid. I mean, granted he's an amateur hitman, but I've never killed anyone and I would know better than to just take some drunk Baldwin's word for it that he was gonna pay me loads after the guy is dead.

Also, I thought his recovery and subsequent revenge were WAY too easy. You don't get beat in the head with a 3-iron 3 times a day for a week (or however long it was) and then just go to P.T. for a week and you're a-ok (if a bit "off"). Then he just walks up in Big Bad Baldwin's Haven for Bad Dudes and basically has his way with his former tormentors (and if I remember correctly, they're actually expecting him).

And I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly either (it's been a while), but I seem to recall a scene at the end where Tormentee is back to normal and his life is just candy and cigarettes.

I just watched this one the other day. It was okay. Not bad for a straight to video release and it actually had more star power and a beter budget than I was expecting. I think it might have done a little better with a different title because King of Ants doesn't really describe the movie at all. Anyways, some of the shit was cool, Norm from Cheers and the guy from Office Space were in it so that's always good... There were a few plots inconsistencies but for what it was... (A low budget crime/revenge drama) it was pretty cool. I'd give it a C+.
