the future of horror

We always hear about how great Carpenter or Romero or Cronenberg are, but what about the up and comers of today. My money is on Guillermo del Toro and Takeshi Miike, these guys have balls to make bizarre and scary movies, and talent to back it up.

Let me know some others you can think of. Horror is a big beatifully grotesque family, let's welcome some newer members with open arms. :) Michael Bay, though, is not welcome. :p

Kiyoshi Kurosawa is, IMO, the greatest modern horror director. Like Argento in his day, shows enough talent that he could break out in "traditional" movies and own everyone's face. Except Kurosawa's movies (Kaïro, at least) own Argento's movies

The future of horror is looking worse and worse.

If you like remakes than you'll love where we are going

yep, I have a bad feeling that some Hollywood bozos are seriously trying to destroy the whole horror genre with those remakes. The horror world needs some new blood and quickly too, or else we are all doomed...

I like Jaume Balagueró. He's maybe not that new, but I really enjoyed his films Los sin nombre and Darkness. very talented fellow...
