				The Official War Movie Thread

Well? What are your favorites and why? Do you have a fascination with a certain war? I think it's high time for a discussion! I'm personally fond of Vietnam flicks, most especially Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, and Apocalypse Now. The war was a horribly terrifying one, and it's interesting to see the effects it had on innocent people who, in most cases, didn;t even know what they were fighting for.

Patton is a good WWII flick with an exceptional performance by the George C. Scott. Have you seen it?

When I was much younger, probably too young to appreciate it.I think I will rent it and watch it as an adult.

I'm a fan of WW2 history and Civil War History. So, a few classics that come to mind are: Glory (great, GREAT film!) Gettysburg (pretty damn good too) Gone With the Wind (don't rag on me for this one!) North and South (mini-series) Patton (George C. Scott is amazing) Saving Private Ryan (maybe the most disturbing war movie) Stalag 17 (an older classic) The Bridge on the River Kwai The Dirty Dozen Just a few great ones that come to mind on those two wars. |
