Thumbs down Why i didnt like Paranormal Activity 3... *SPOILER ALERT*

Im not gonna talk about the cheap scare tactics that they use in these films because everybody and their mother has compalined about that already.

The reason why i didnt care for the movie at all was because of the incredible inconsistancy in the plotline of the story.

Atleast the first and second films were connected in the way that you could actually tell that they were telling the same story. I liked that we all saw the events in PA1 and still questioned what exactly the entity was that had been haunting Katie. Then in PA2 we learn that the demon is transfered from Kristi’s husband to get the “curse” off of his wife. Upon some research from Kristi’s husband’s daughter; (the only introduced information, so this is what the audience it supposed to believe)the demon was summoned when a family member sacrifices the first born son, i.e. Hunter for fame and/or fortune.

This storyline completely makes sense to me and is pretty much sound and cohesive. The point when things start to get blurry is when this whole new storyline is brought into PA3 and apparently this demon (Toby) has been summoned by Kristi and Katie’s grandmother who is a part of this cult of other elderly satanic women.

Okay, so now im confused as fuck and there are no ties from this Prequel to the Last two films (PA 1 & 2). For those of you who saw the 3rd film, you know that the grandmother sacrificed Julie and Dennis (Katie and Kristi’s mother and step-father) to the demon….. my question is WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT!!!!?????

I could possibly understand if only Dennis died because the mother explicitly says that she doesnt think that he is right for Julie (financially), but why kill her own daughter and have the little girls in on it. THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!!!

I understand that there is this element of fantasy to it, but come on, at least make it cohesive in some way….

Get it together Hollywood…

I quite enjoyed the third film, and there were definitely ties to the previous two films. I think you've misunderstood some key plot points, but I think they're also setting up for more films on the story so some details have yet to be explained.

I understood the plot points just fine but I feel that there is just too much of a stretch and absolute reaching to find a connection between the 3rd and previous films.
The set up for further films is also clear. This is indisputable, but there are really no clear answers, and that's also fine because the paranormal is unexplained really. But the plot is simply not cohesive.
