Remake hell

What's up with all the classics being remade lately? The Fog, Amityville Horror... There's a bunch more. Do remakes do anything to add to the originals?

Nothing to add to the originals, but I think it might add to the number of Jaguars on the road, the frequency at which teenage boys get laid, the cover price of Fangoria and the number of names I need to forget.

How would it add anything to the original? The originals were done, in some cases, almost 30 years ago, they're done. They're RE-MAKING them, not altering them.

Eh, some remakes have been... alright. By and large, they pale in comparison to the original though. I wish that filmmakers would do something a little more challenging and creative, but that's the industry for you.

So... no, they don't really add anything to the original. A few are okay on their own merits, but for the most part they get a thumbs down.

Ruining them HOW? They've not changed one frame of the original movie by making a completely seperate movie. Don't like the re-make? There's still probably a perfectly preserved copy of the original version on your shelf.

Actually with the Dawn of the Dead remake they added to it and changed it a bit and in my opinion changed the movie completely. It's a completely different movie and while not as good as the original it's not bad.

no, they made a different movie. The original Dawn of the Dead is still the same (except there's three versions of it)

How could they ruin the original by doing a remake?
