Holy CRAP

Michael Jordan having "retired," with $40 million in endorsements, makes $178,100 a day, working or not.

If he sleeps 7 hours a night, he makes $52,000 every night while visions of sugarplums dance in his head.

If he goes to see a movie, it'll cost him $7.00, but he'll make $18,550 while he's there.

If he decides to have a 5-minute egg, he'll make $618 while boiling it.

He makes $7,415/hr more than minimum wage.

He'll make $3,710 while watching each episode of Friends.

If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX ($90,000) it would take him a whole 12 hours.

If someone were to hand him his salary and endorsement money, they would have to do it at the rate of $2.00 every second.

He'll probably pay around $200 for a nice round of golf, but will be reimbursed $33,390 for that round.

Assuming he puts the federal maximum of 15% of his income into a tax deferred account (401k), his contributions will hit the federal cap of $9500 at 8:30 a.m. on January 1st.

If you were given a penny for every 10 dollars he made, you'd be living comfortably at $65,000 a year.

He'll make about $19.60 while watching the 100 meter dash in the Olympics, and about $15,600 during the Boston Marathon.

While the common person is spending about $20 for a meal in his trendy Chicago restaurant, he'll pull in about $5600.

This year, he'll make more than twice as much as all U.S. past presidents for all of their terms combined. Amazing isn't it?

However...
If Jordan saves 100% of his income for the next 450 years, he'll still have less than Bill Gates has today.

Bill Gates' fortune is just ridiculous money, its the same with all these multi billionaires. Just what exactly can be done with 10 billion that cant be done with 1/2 billion?

Well, you could try to spend $1,000,000 a day. If you had $10billion, it would take you just over 27 years to spend it all. That's if you didn't make any more money. However, I think gates is worth close to $40bil, so it'd take around 109 years at $1mil a day.

They do say, though, after a certain point, there's just no difference. No human being, no matter how hard they tried, could spend $10bil. I doubt very much there would be any difference in lifestyle if he was worth $2bil or $40bil.

Hey man, I don't decide wages and value of labor. I was just pointing out that as far as athletes are concerned, he earned everything he's gotten. You make a good point with which I completely agree.

agreed - for what he does he's the best. . . my point was more philosophical . . . but of course we're on a site dedicated to films that cost, often 10s of millions of dollars that could, in all fairness, easily go to feeding starving people or ending disease. . . maybe we should all boycott films and video rentals for one year and give all the money to some charity. . .

ok - i know no one is going to do that and i probably won't either, but its probably what we SHOULD do. . . oh well, pass the popcorn and turn on ESPN!

Ha ha them's interesting stats.

I have less of a problem with Bill Gates making a mega fortune than I do with people worshipping pompous sports stars who are paid millions to run about.

In the UK, there is a lot of tension about the imminent World Cup, and how our star player will perform after injury.

I like football, but personally could not give a fuck about how the petulant little millionaire bastard is feeling... or how he might briefly cheer up the grim little lives of the football mad household feeding their whiny kids on crisps and blue pop by scoring a goal or two.

At least Gates has proved himself to be an innovative and highly efficient businessman.

:)
