Curse/Night of the Demon Question
Yes, this belongs in the Classic Horror section, however Im posting it here because I'd like to have an answer within a couple hours. Posting it in the proper forum, Id be lucky to get an answer by Christmas.
So, Night of the Demon just arrived from Zip, and it has an alternate version called Curse of the Demon. Night is the original, 95 minute UK version, while Curse is a "rare, truncated American release" clocking in at 82 minutes. Which version is better? I would naturally assume that the uncut version is best, but I wanted to run it past you guys first. Never know:)

Haha, very.
Here's the plot (from IMDB): Dr. John Holden ventures to London to attend a paranormal psychology symposium with the intention to expose devil cult leader, Julian Karswell. Holden is a skeptic and does not believe in Karswell's power. Nonetheless, he accepts an invitation to stay at Karswell's estate, along with Joanna Harrington, niece of Holden's confidant who was electrocuted in a bizarre automobile accident. Karswell secretly slips a parchment into Holden's papers that might possibly be a death curse. Recurring strange events finally strike fear into Holden, who believes that his only hope is to pass the parchment back to Karswell to break the demonic curse. Its a classic, have been wanting to see it for a long time.

Yes, Moth, THAT Night of the Demon--the 70's Bigfoot movie--is another Night of the Demon altogether. It is in fact a Bigfoot GORE movie with lots of bloody sadistic killings. It starts with one such slaying, and then we are treated to the splendid image of a giant footprint slowly filling up with blood!!
I know we are getting off topic here, but I recommend this Bigfoot gore movie. It's a piece of schlock, and not a genuine horror classic like 1957's Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon, but very fun for what it is.

It's just the U.S. theatrical release. Night is better, but Curse isn't horrible, and it wasn't made for TV. You can get a neat little DVD, good quality, for around $20 that has both 'Night' and 'Curse'. I want it. I want it so bad I can taste it. Be still, Taggart! |

Either version, this is one of the best horror films of its era.

The producers tampered with and shortened the final cut when it was released in the USA as Curse of the Demon, adding special effects of the creature near the beginning (spoiling things a lot). It is assumed, once again, that American audiences needed things made more obvious to enjoy the film :)
