Movies at work.

I have a huge project i am working on right now, and cant play on the forums as much as usual.... :(

However, i have a movie marathon going on for background noise here...:) Just finished Trainspotting, now i put on Evil Dead... Evil Dead 2 is next in line... Now i wish i hadnt forgotten Dog Soldiers...

Cooper in Dog Soldiers is played by the same guy as Tommy in Trainspotting, so i am jonesin' for some werewolves.....

The new textbooks my ninth graders are using has the short story that The Birds was based on. So, when we're done with the story, we'll get to watch the movie! Yay! (This is as close to getting the chance to watch a scary film at work as I can get. :( )

You are one of those cool teachers i would have killed for in school...

How's this for a true story? My favorite teacher EVER was my senior year English teacher, Mrs Ohlemeir. At one point, we read Lord Of the Flies (which i LOVED). She put in the movie one day, and whithin the first 5 minutes, the class was tearing apart the inconsistancies in the screen version.

So she put it to a vote, asking if we thought that the book was going to be better than the movie. It was unanimous in favor of the book. She asked why, and the class stated that we thought it was wrong to arbitrarily alter a story for a movie, especially a classic.

So she announced that we had taste and class, and didnt need to wast 2 classes watching amovie we already knew wasnt worth our time. Despite our protests, she would not allow us to "cheapen" iourselves with something we were obviously "above".... Sneaky old bitch... god i loved that woman...:D

Big companies are supposed to have a process for having big changes made by the IT department (shutting down a server, updating an entire website, putting anew server online, etc..)

The company i work for has had shit in this area for a long time. i took it upon myself to rebuild the form they had for it several months ago into an actual web application to make tracking these things better. Well, they redid the process and made it more complicated, and as the only guy who does web-programming left in the company (plus thae fact that i built the last one from scratch), i have been asked to rebuild it AGAIN.

The cool thing is is that workingon it keep s me from having to do any shit work (i love programming), plus any exposure is good exposure. shit like this garuntees me promotions and raises every year :)

Why thank you :)

It seems to be working like this. They had a whole bunch of hammers, so no one hammer was a big deal. all of the other hammers are now gone, so they treat the remaining hammer like gold. i am that Hammer :)
