I watched this a couple nights ago too, and enjoyed it a lot. It was actually pretty funny for a horror comedy, but then it kept getting darker and darker. I also like how they blurred the lines between vampires and zombies.

I want to watch the original again. There is a twist in this movie that I can't remember in the original. But I think this is the best of the remakes from that studio. They all have the same look to them. And at times the same feel. I thought I was in for another crap movie. They even throw in the usual redneck character which they almost implied was messing around with his donkey. But Sean Bean makes this a movie worth checking out. He plays a good crazy man.

The actress who plays the perfect college girl in the movie is hot too. I've never seen her in anything before.
I saw this recently with my dad. It was fun and entertaining, but a bit too Michael Bay for my tastes. Probably better if you know it's an action movie ahead of time. My dad definitely liked it.

Watched Congo (1995). Been awhile since I'd seen this one. Kind of second-tier Michael Crichton. Pretty good if you can get past the somewhat cheesy monkey costumes. 3.5 stars.

Lord of Tears

I was so excited for this and unfortunately i was disappointed. I guess it's not terrible. I loved The Owlman design and the scenes with him in it but the story was unnecessarily complicated and instead of crafting an interesting mythology for The Owlman, they spent way too much time focusing on the lame romance between the two leads. The acting was pretty bad especially from the female lead who overacted like crazy every scene she was in. But the male lead's ridiculous reactions weren't any better. There were too many scenes that dragged on way too long and for no reason and came off as incredibly silly which really took you out of the rare occasions the movie attempted to build up a scary atmosphere. Wouldn't really recommend this one.

2/5

Deep In The Darkness

This was better than Lord of Tears but it wasn't great. There were so many questions unanswered, many things didn't make any sense and it wasn't very scary. The story and the acting weren't bad and i can't say i was bored. Watch this if you have nothing else to do.

3/5

Transcendence

Once again this was not what i expected. I thought this would be more of an evil computer type movie but that was not at all what this was. There really wasn't any clear cut hero or villain and the AI really only did one thing wrong that if it had stopped doing, things would've been fine and it really didn't seem like it was too important to it. Were supposed to feel like the AI is evil and that it should be destroyed but there is no reason to believe that at all. The acting was okay although Johnny Depp seemed to phone it in. Paul Bettany was pretty good but Morgan Freeman didn't have nearly enough to do here. I hated the ending.

3/5

Dark Touch

This was horrible. I couldn't even finish it. Terrible acting, not scary at all and the two sets of parents were the absolute worst parent's. The one set were obviously supposed to be bad parents but the others were supposed to be the good ones but the way they raised there children and the choices and reactions they made were unbearable.

1/5

Taxi Driver

Finally one i liked. This was great. Every scene was artistic and creative. The story was interesting despite being a slow burn and Robert De Niro's acting was incredible.

4/5

Gravity (2013)

I think this is one of the few films that actually lives up to the media hype. This movie is non-stop suspense. Sandra Bullock has some of the worst luck in outer space.

The Colony (2013)

I checked this out because of Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton. In a post apocalyptic world devastated by an ice age what's left of humanity survives in underground colonies. When they answer an SOS call from their neighboring colony they discover almost everyone killed by a pack of cannibals. Although the basic premise is familiar there were some genuinely tense scenes. The CGI looked good and there was some really brutal gore.

Did you see INSOMNIA with Al Pacino and Hilary Swank? Older, but not too bad.

THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE (2001). Excellent film by Guillermo del Toro that reminded us a lot of PAN'S LABYRINTH with children encountering supernatural elements with The Spanish Civil war hovering nearby. However, the real world is more frightening than any ghost etc could ever be. Marvelous in every facet and well worth seeing. *****

No, I haven't seen that. I'll add it to the queue. Thanks!
