it's perfectly understandable why people thought it was scary as hell when the Exorcist was released the worst a movie had gotten was someone being stabbed in the shower and zombies and then outta nowhere a little girl is possessed by satan.

of course it was ten minutes shorter and had more bleep out than a Andrew Dice Clay concert but it came on tv a few weeks ago.

Actually, there were several movies that had unprecedented "kills" and acts of violence...look at Last House on the Left for example.

true but they came out only a handful of months apart and Last House on The Left wasn't getting any attention at first and was completely overshadowed by The Exorcist, alot of people didn't even know about Last House.
