Gone Baby Gone
I want to thank Alky & The Mothman for pointing this film out. Before their mentioning of it, I had not even heard the name. What a shame it would have been if I had not sought this one out. It certainly is one of the best films of 2007. This little segment in the film really stood out. It's nice to see that, even the smallest of details, still packs a wallop. When Casey's character is running things through his head, the camera just manages to catch a television screen. On that screen is a newscast. The two hosts end a story about Amanda McCready. They state how terrible such a case is, their gazes downward and their voices low. However, it's not a second later when they turn their heads to a co-host and the topic switches to sports, and the tone of voice to upbeat. Gone Baby Gone is not just a story about finding a little girl. There is no question about it. If you get the chance, watch it. Don't even consider passing it up. |

I thought I'd prefer Gone Baby Gone, but...
No Country For Old Men takes the spot as the best film this year. Of course, I've yet to see There Will Be Blood. PS. I thought the ending was brilliant. Last edited by joshaube; 01-17-2008 at 09:37 PM. |
