The Prophecy (1995) Christopher Walken is a great evil angel. I really like the story too, it's pretty original.

As I have a few mins I will list a few more of the movies I have watched recently.

The Wax Mask -

This is a bit of a strange one...tons of nudity, not as much gore as I would expect from a movie associated with Mr Fulci but I quite enjoyed it all the same! Not one of the best but worth a look if you are a Fulci fan I guess.

6/10

Superstition -

Silly bad acted slasher from the 80's. One or two decent kills and a laugh with a bowl of popcorn if you are so inclined! There are tons of better slashers from this era but what the hell...

5.5/10

House of 1000 Corpses

I spent an evening re-watching this and Devils Rejects. I still prefer this one though...Cptn Spaulding is already a legend - this movie just gets better for me every time I see it. The nearest to a TCM kinda feel movie whcih actually puts out and delivers!

10/10

The Devils Rejects

I purchased the Spec. Double DVD edition with the 2 hr documentary and spent the evening with Spaulding, Otis & Baby and had a ball! I still prefer 1000 but this had a different feel and delivered in a different way to 1000.

Awesome

10/10

Swingers

This early Vince Vaugn movie is well worth a watch. I love V.V's character in this movie - with some classic lines and hilarious scenes. Not bad at all.

6.5/10

Dangerous Game

This is a really strange movie. A film about how Hollywood films are created??!! hmmmph. I love Harvey Keitel but I just couldnt really get into this strange movie of sex, scripts and flashbacks! Madonna was er...Madonna, Keitel was his usual quality self but this did not save this turkey. Sorry.

5/10

The Fog

John Carpenters original classic. I adore this movie, recently added the remake to my collection so I had to watch the original before I submitted myself to what most describe as a horrible remake. This double DVD spec. Edition is without doubt the business though. Great film and some great documentaries to boot. Simply a classic.

10/10

Ghostwatcher

I gotta say that I'm really getting a penchant for these little indy ghost stories. I loved The Ghosts of Edendale (see my review a couple of months ago on this very site), The Lady in Black was a class little film also, so when I placed this into my DVD player I was hoping for more of the same. What I got was a pretty much decent creepy little movie. Yes, some of the acting is shoddy and the effects in parts are indeed lame but this movie still managed to creep me out in parts. A good solid story to boot - I'm glad I got this little film.

7/10

Finding Neverland

I wasn't particulary looking forward to sitting through this movie when mrs Pea Soup in the eye popped it into the DVD player. After watching it I cant wait to see it again. Depp is superb in this (isn't he always)?? Winslet also puts in a strong performance. Some scenes are reminiscent of Burton's 'Big Fish' with some trippy elements which is no bad thing. This movie really should be viewed by all

9/10

Anderson is a twit who can somehow suck the life and originality out of any concept. in the hands of a better writer/director, Event Horizon could have been a great movie...

The only thing he did sorta right was the first Resident Evil, and that one starts to fall apart after repeat viewings.
i agree. the acting was pretty disposable, but what made it a good movie (for me) was the the direction and cinematography.

KissKissBangBang-awesome lil gem of a movie-should have had much more kudos from the Industry.

I watched Anchorman.
Stupid but I got about 2 or 3 really good belly laughs out of it so I cannot completely trash it.
I do not recommend it though.
It seemed to me this movie was trying so hard to be several different things and failed at all of them.
Will Ferrell is still a very good comedic actor though, and I have high hopes he gets a role that pushes him up into the Belushi/Sandler status soon.
I haven't seen Taladaga Nights but hear it may be his stepping-up movie.
Good for him.

Swingers, only 6.5/10, is kinda low don't you think. This is the movie that started Vince Vaughns career. I would have at least given it a 8.5/10. Also a 10/10 for both House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects, while I enjoyed the second far more than the first, neither deserves a perfect ten. 10's should be reserved for the best of the best, such as Halloween, Alien, The Thing, etc..

But it's all subjective, to each his/her own.

It is all subjective I agree - however to give a film 10/10 or even an 8.5/10 just because it started someones career I find a strange statement. Does this mean that we give Rubberface (Jim Carrey's film debut) a 10/10 simply because it launched his movie career?

I thought Swingers was good, so I'm sticking with 6.5/10

I must agree the answer machine bit was hilarious though - how about 6.7/10 then??

I love the House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects - they are two of the best 'new' horror movies I have seen in a long time, hence 10/10 as I believe that these will be looked at as classics in 15-20 yrs time as we look at Halloween and such like now.

i agree with this statement ..

but for the writing, acting, direction, fresh origionality, taking the piss out of hollywood ..

it's still a 10 to me.

"well, nothing going on here, lets go"
(in the middle of a huge packed happening party)

"i'd have killed to get that part !"

man there are more good lines in this film than you'd find in 50 other comedies combined..
