Inside Man
Really glad I decided to check this out....wasnt expecting much, but it turned out great. Really enjoyable...not always 100% believable*, but definately alot of fun. * (Spoilers below) For example, one thing that bugged me a bit was the whole thing with the lights blocking out the cameras. Now, wouldnt you think there would be somebody watching the ca,eras? Dont you think they'd notice if the cameras blinked out? Nothing major though, I still thought it was a very good movie.

SPOILER TOO . . . . . About the camera thing, I can't remember entirely since I watched this a bit of time ago and it didn't stick with me that much - but did the cameras flick out and air pre-recorded video that omitted them from the area? If so, my guess would be in a lot of cases, secuity is hired to watch the cameras - but it doesn't mean their eyes would be on it every minute. People don't always do their job 100%, after all. :P . . . . . |

Cube
I liked it. :) Not horror, more sci-fi - which I'm not usually into, but I still dug it. Loved Leaven's character, and absolutely despised Quentin's character. I really did, fuck he got me angry. Stupid angressive mofo. The movie, I thought, was going to be quite low budget... but suprisingly it showed little signs of being. The only thing that made it seem "cheap" was the shaking-screen effect to imply movement of a room. Cheasily done, I'd say - but how else would they have pulled it off? Nothing really wrong with it - doesn't distract from the film too much. Interesting concept, one which surely inspired the creators of House of 9, if even in the slightest (I reccomend House of 9 to anyone who likes Cube - it's good :)). Not a film that everyone can sit through, no, you need patience. But it keeps your attention pretty well for a movie that consists of a small cast, small area, and math. I'm intrigued enough to hunt down the other two - expecially Zero. Saw it on Space one night, part of it, and the no-budget just appealed to me so much. :) Who knows. I'm wierd. Session 9 is up next, but at 1:30 in the morning who knows if I can make it. >_< |

The sequels aren't made by the same people, and the second one (the only other I've seen) wasn't nearly as good...although it did have some rather trippy effects and a strange time displacement thing going on...but, if you're looking for something similar to the first, it's not really much like it at all. I've NEVER seen cube0 available anywhere...so, if and when you get it, let us know if it's worth tracking down...
But yeah, the original is great, I've had it on dvd for some time now...low budget on this one didn't effect the overall quality. Last night - Ali G Aiii Stupid funny stupidity...always makes me laugh.
