"Troll" being remade with a huge budget
Rumblings had surfaced recently that a remake to the '86 horror film "Troll" was in the works, with a substantial budget. After passing it off as a really bad joke, it was found out later that it wasnt a joke.....at all. Yesterday it was discovered that a remake to John Carl Buechler's film is in fact being shot. No details have been revealed about the film other than this synopsis: The film is about a young boy who enters a parallel world of wizards and magic where he befriends a good witch. Soon the boy learns that he must save the world from an evil Troll/Wizard that has the ability to hide his essence within the bodies of others. "Saw V & VI" director already signed up It has just been confirmed. Confirmation comes from multiple sources by our friends over at bloody-disgusting.com that David Hackl, the production designer on Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV and second unit director on Saw II and Saw IV has OFFICIALLY been attached to helm both Lionsgate's Saw V and Saw VI, assuming a hole doesn't form in the Earth and suck the franchise in with it. Will Jigsaw return? I'm sure he will. But this news comes so early don't expect much more until we see how well Saw IV does, which Hackl was once in the running to direct. Classic 50s Monster movie in 3D coming in May 2009 DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens has been slated for domestic release May 15, 2009, a week earlier than previously announced. Helmed by Conrad Vernon and Rob Letterman, the film is in production and will be distributed domestically by Paramount Pictures. "Monsters vs. Aliens" -- now confirmed as the official title with the release date -- will be the first DWA film produced in stereoscopic 3-D. "Monsters" is described as a reinvention of the classic 1950s monster movie into an irreverent modern-day action comedy. Lisa Stewart will produce the film. First Poster, First Trailer out for Argento's "The Mother of Tears"
Italy's Yahoo! Movies has a crisp, clear look at Dario Argento's The Mother of Tears, also known as the "Third Mother" film, after Suspiria and Inferno. In addition, you can check out the first international poster too! The Mother of Tears centers on a young American art student, Sarah, who "unwittingly opens an ancient urn that unleashes the demonic power of the world's most powerful witch. As a scourge of suicides plague the city and witches from all over the world converge on Rome to pay homage, Sarah must use all her own psychic powers to stop the 'Mother of Tears' before her evil conquers the world. You can view the trailer link and poster from here. Fox pays huge bucks for new Vampire story In a seven-figure deal that shows Hollywood continues to be a sucker for a good vampire tale, Fox 2000 and Scott Free beat out three other studios to acquire screen rights to a bloodsucker trilogy by Jordan Ainsley that begins with The Passage. The three-book series have been sold to Ballantine for $3.75 million, based on a 400-page partial manuscript and an outline. The film caught the fancy of Ridley Scott, though it was not immediately clear whether he will direct it. Ainsley is a pseudonym for Justin Cronin, the PEN Hemingway Award and Stephen Crane Prize-winning author of the literary novel "Mary and O'Neil." With "The Passage," he has created an apocalyptic tale that has elements of "28 Weeks Later" and the Stephen King novel "The Stand." The story is this...When terminally ill cancer patients get healthy after being bitten by bats in South America, the government conducts secret tests with human subjects to see if a virus can cure illness. Instead, it unleashes a swarm of bloodthirsty vampires out of the test subjects, which include death row inmates. The first installment will be published in summer 2009. Fox 2000's Rodney Ferrell got an early peek at the book as it made the rounds with publishers, and then finalised the deal. Newest trailer:- Dario Argento's The Mother of Tears aka The Third Mother.
