Which order should I watch these, to build atmosphere?

So begins my New Years movie marathon,
with a few footlong subs, a jumbo-pack of M&Ms and all the pop a person could drink. So far I'm two films in; House of the Dead I read all the reviews. I noted all your opinions. And I got what I expected; utter shit. :p Return said it's a good party flick, and I can see that. It certainly is one of those... action-horror you can have on in the background and just laugh at. It plays out like a sci-fi movie of the week; the acting, effects, all play out in that manner. Expect in those cases, budget is the weakening... here it was just lack of care from the director. It seemed very amateur; I mean... game clips, zombies that look pathetic, matrix-rips, and some terrible camera shots? Ew. For a theatrical movie, there's no excuse. Boll says he's reviewed unfairly... but when you make films like this, I don't see what else you could be expecting. The Nun From the cover and synapsis, this seems like a typical C movie. I rented in by reccomendation of Rubenmania, and I am glad I did. It's pretty good, and like him, I wonder why it wasn't released theatrically (though I can guess the answer why they chose not to). Visually, it has a high production backing it. Slickly directed, with above-average effects. The storyline was pretty good too, even if the ending used an over-played twist and most of the other twists were predictable. A good slasher-esque film, and I'm the type who usually hates them. Reminded me of Final Destination, in some sense. Good kills, good gore, and an inventive and unique story. Worth a watch IMO. Next up... When a Stranger Calls and The Hitcher later on. |

The Descent and Fair Haired Child. The Descent is as great as everyone has said. Absolutely loved this one. And now that I've seen the last Masters of Horror episode, I can give them a ranking:
1. Cigarette Burns 2. Fair Haired Child 3. Deer Woman 4. Dreams in the Witch House 5. Incident On and Off a Mountain Road 6. Pick Me Up 7. Homecoming 8. Imprint 9. Jenifer 10. Haeckel's Tale 11. Sick Girl 12. Chocolate 13. Dance of the Dead
