i bet you know the answer to this one : all i know is one scene ... the good guy has a 'paper spell' but there are 2 vampires .. so he puts the spell on one to freeze it, and the other one is loose, so he puts the spell on the loose one, and the other one comes to life again .. this keeps going back and forth .. the guy cant get away because he has to keep switching the spell from vampire to vampire .. know the movie ? |

If you don't like the more fantasy HK films I would still strongly recommend "Untold Story" at least. For me I like the way the chinese are able encompass many genres in one movie, I think its a postive, you just have to leave your westernised idea of film making at the door and watch them as an entity in their own right. ... but everyone has their own taste ... :) |

the bollywood comparrison is the 'genre jamming' - the HK films (for the most part) at least dont have the musical element ... The other line of comparrison for me is the lack of 'sofistication' for lack of a better word.. It is indeed a matter of taste but i find that (for my taste) they are more 'common mass - in your face films' where they try for such a large appeal that they lose their focus .. I've seen my share of both HK and Bollywood films as well, and thats just how they hit me .. I dont mind when a movie switches tracks (like Dusk til Dawn or Miracle Mile) but for me the HK and Bollywood films are to hectic and scattered .. and worse - i find the humor is too obvious ... and the acting is sub-par (stagey and wooden)... but again .. i dont mean to step on the shoes of the folks that like these films .. they are obviously finding something to enjoy that i cant |
