Well good luck... just don't start making shit tributes to Romero's Zombie films like everybody else who picks up a video camera seems to fall over themselves to do.

The problem is that the don't make pure horror anymore. It is a Thriller / Horror or Comedy / Horror etc.

I do agree they are making too many remakes (A BRAND NEW KOREAN VERSION OF THE RING). They never seem to get them right or completely rewrite the story so that they seem to just use the title (Boogeyman).

horror isnt going any where other than to hell. almost all of the original shit it fucking terrible, and most of the remakes are worst than that.

in truth i dont really have any thing against remake other than if they are carbon copys. the prob is that people excpect them to live up to the original or be better, thats not really possible. i think of them as a modernization, face lift or retelling. for example the DOD remake was basicly just remade to bring it to a new generation. i know just about every one on this site has seen all the original remaro films( or at least you should have). but a lot of the worlds youth hasnt and i know some that never planded on it just cause thee black and white( in truth i fucking hate old classic black and white, hell i hate basicly every thing old hollywood except horror, all that other shit i just thought it was crorny and gay). its a fact if you were born after 1970 chances are you dont like black and white.

i only like black and white films if there is a reason for it to be black and white. for exampe sin city, its black and white( mainly) cause thats how the comic was.

in the original pycho in the shower sceen the blood was actualy chocolate suryp, it would of looked gay any other way. same as the original night of the living dead, it would have looks so fake but by taking out color it looked realalistic.

we need truly original and ground breaking films, or at least good films. the real reason that horror has gone to hell is money. some movies require this, but the prob is that hollywood will make anything if they think it will turn a profit. i hate to admit this but project green light had it right, it should be about the movie. movies like greenskeeper, drive-in, and jack frost are ruining the genra.

I think Lucky McKee is going to be something special. i really liked May and am exciated to see The Woods, which I saw a trailer for on the Amityville Horror (orig) DVD.

I also think that Eli Roth is going to be a good director. I know most people didn't like Cabin Fever but I really enjoyed it. I thought there were many tounge-in-cheek parts, and was a good tribute to old school horror.

Rob Zombie is another guy that can make a good horror film. I am excited about Devil's. From what I have seen, it is going to be good an scary.

Once again all they're doing is making money.

the future of horror is suffering the same fate as all other film genres.
Lack of origionality - and passion that has been replaced by bankability.

no one can afford to take risks and make films for the minority ..
at least - no one with a decent budget.

occasionaly we'll get a smart film where someone was brilliant enough to make a great film on a small budget (therefore not much risk) but these are few and far between.

The filmmaking business is like any other .. they make a product with the expectation of turning a profit.

If you have done market surveys to determine what is profitable and they come back saying its Item A ... then they are going to keep manufacturing Item A.

What made Item A profitable ?? the people who paid to see it, and didnt pay to see Item C.

So be thankful when something comes out in a blue moon that is worth seeing .... we take what we can get.
