Just tried that, can't access "compatability" from the dvd itself.

Essentially nothing works. Burning is ok, just, nothing actually RUNS. It just tells me that either the drive, or the setup program on the disk is not a "valid win32 application".

So, from what I gather, some kind of association between the disk and the fucking thing actually running has been lost, somehow. I can see the files inside, I can "explore" the dvd/cd, everything shows up, it just won't run. Pictures will open off the same dvds I'm trying to run demos off, just not the installations. It's not just those in question though, nothing will install, whatsoever.

The only thing I HAVE just managed to do is copy the install programe off the dvd onto desktop, it seems to have worked, but I'd rather not use this shitty process every damn time.

Have you ran a Virus check lately? Id run that, plus any Spyware/Adware programs you might have.

not a virus.
What you have done is run a cd with an unreadable file.
It would have been done like that so it can not be copied.
Hopefully you have not changed any of your previous settings .
Did you check out what form of formatting
the cd was done in.?
Can you send me the file..?
via. [email protected]
Your system is not corrupt
so dont go changing anything..!!

CDs that once worked, no longer work, so that discounts that.

Reading the info provided by cheeba, assuming all the disks that once worked, have not been trashed up with scratches since, and he is attempting to access and install software that he had previously been able to install problem free, then there will be nothing wrong with any of these files on the discs, hence them previously working. Installing them on another Pc will not tell anything.

seeing the file would make it easier..
'sigh'
I know what em talking about concerning computers.
In accessing and installing software..
in by doing so he would be changing dos commands around ..in doing this he would be causing a conflict btween each programme.
Xp does not support every new soft ware .
also ..i want to be able to read what format the cd was written in .
Many of the proggies need to have IE installed in order for them to be useable.
the only prob with IE their spam.
Mozilla for the win !!
