No disrespect intended. After Suspiria, Deep Red, Tenebrae & Bird With Crystal Plumage it's like George Romero trying to top Night of the Living Dead. The bar is set pretty damn high and as a result some of us just hope to see the peak of the directors art somehow surpassed. Sure, they my do some good work but ...Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the film, I just didn't find it as memorable. And although I like Brody, something was just didn't sit well with his performance. When in makeup, I felt his acting was overstated. Not Nicolas Cage heavy handed but still a bit much.
Amer which I love visually feels like the pacing is far to slow for me. Again, didn't hate it, would likely only watch certain segments because of the lighting and camer work. Intentionally slow pacing works in something like Audition though. Hope I didn't offend anyone. Sorry if I did. Not what I want to be doing. Ok, except for Makinov. That guy is far to self indulgent with impotent ability. |
