Tae Guk Gi
I had heard a lot of talk of this being a Saving Private Ryan rip-off but besides war there's not much else they have in common. I really prefer the story in Tae Guk over SPR, it was one of the best war movies I've ever seen. There are so many moments in this movie during battle and out of it that just grab a hold of you and command your attention. I won't spoil anything but there are some really good plot elements and I recommend you check this one out. |

A Snake of June
Like all of Tsukamoto's films that I've seen, this one left me dazed and confused. The visuals and imagery certainly were beautiful, and what I could gather of the story was quite compelling. Give it a watch if you enjoy baffling art films. Overall: 7/10

Aragami: Raging God of Battle - I really liked this one because of how few places and people there were involved. Just some conversation, a couple of nice battles, and a great ending. I've got to see 2LDK now, I heard it won the "duel" by ONE vote.

"Kansen" (Infection) 6/10
Obviously a rather low budget horror movie about a hospital where a weird virus is spreading. The idea is good, but "Kansen" is just too slow going and (probably because of the budget) not much happens untill the end. A thing i found a little weird was this: There are around 7 doctors at the hospital and you start by being informed that they are too few and got too much work..... But the hospital consists of only 6 rooms with about the same number of patients....

"Sha Po Lang" 8/10
This movie had waaaaaay to few fighting scenes considering it had two very talented martial artists fighting on each side of the law. I´m, of course, talking about the man in white & the man in black. Funny enough, the man in black was the good guy. But what the hell was up with the ending. What happened to the little girl??? It was fucking depressing!! Nevertheless, great action flick.

I agree there could have been more fighting, but what you get is quality scenes and not quantity, mixed in with a decent story... which I prefer. **spoilerish below** As for then ending, thats the twist of fate. |

Stacy
I really didn't like this one too much. Some of the gore effects were impressive, but the rest of the film was rather lackluster. Very bad acting and a bad script (although it's possible that it was just translated badly). The attempts at humor also fell flat with me. This one was a disappointment. Overall: 4/10

I also saw Stacy last and was dissapointed with it but I think I liked it a little more than noctuary. I really liked the promis this movie had but it fell short of delivering. I did like the Bruce Campbell and Romero referances but why a Drew Barrymore referance? Weird. Anyway, some of the gore was good but that was offset by these girls being some of the worst zombies I've ever seen. If pressed to rate this one I'd say a 6/10.

Returner.
So many styles from different films, or should it be the other way round.... none the less the scenes were well put together to produce a decent enough asian action sc-fi. 4/5 |
