Well uh, hi folks.

Anyway, I thought this movie was great, I didn't go in expecting a Halloween film, I went in expecting a Rob Zombie film and I got what I expected, I wasn't disappointed at all, except I wanted Brad Dourif to have a bigger part, other than that I loved it.

Nothing too major, but may be some SPOILERS ahead......

I didn't hate it, but yes, it was very disappointing. The first hour I was bored out of my mind. Putting the focus on how screwed up his family was wasn't smart in my opinion. All subtlety and mystery flew right out the window. I felt absolutely nothing for Laurie, in fact, she was so aggravating I was hoping he would just put her out of MY misery.... He was too big. In fact, one of the scenes lifted directly from the original didn't even make sense because of his size. I might have enjoyed it a bit better had it not been a remake of Halloween. Zombie made a mistake deciding to remake this film. His style thus far, which worked well in one of his films, has been anything but subtle. And because of that, he basically turned Michael into a garden variety psychopath. He seemed to up the body count, hoping to make up for the fact that he just couldn't build any suspense. A huge disappointment. But I still respect Zombie, and I think he is still a decent horror director, and has great potential. He just took on too much here, I think.

The new Halloween....crap?

This had to be one of the worst pieces of shit that I've ever had the displeasure of watching. Who agrees?

I don't, I thought the film kicked some ass.

I didn't think of it as a Halloween film, because it's not, I just went in thinking "Rob Zombie's new movie" and I thought it was great, I loved the acting, the few complaints I have are (spoilers): Killing Danny Trejo, I know he had to die in that situation, but I'd rather Danny finds the bodies after Michael leaves and he's the one that reports the escape, so on from there. And Brad Dourif not having more screen time. Again, I wasn't expecting something suspenseful, I was just expecting to see Michael Myers back rockin' the shit in a new, almost entirely different movie and not getting his ass kicked by Busta Rhymes.

You loved the "acting"? The scenes with the 30 year olds playing high school girls were painful at best. That was some of the worst acting and dialogue I've ever witnessed in a film. I was kind of embarassed for the actors in some of those scenes. I usually like Malcolm McDowell, but goddamn he just seemed completely dry, bored and uninterested during the whole film. The scenes with him counseling young mike were also painful to watch.

Scout Taylor-Compton is 18, I don't know how old Kristina is, Danielle Harris is 30, but she still did a good job. Their characters seemed believable enough. The actors did the best with what they had, William Forsythe makes excellent white trash. I thought Malcolm did great, especially the "Almost twice as long as my first marriage" scene. And Brad Dourif is Brad fucking Dourif, I enjoyed it.

To each his own...I just wanted to see who agreed with me. Anyway, what's so great about Brad Dourif? I thought he sucked horribly too.
