I know he's been in more than just Freddy but that's just what I was talking about.

he was in wishmaster for 10 minutes and wasn't that great.

I didn't even realize he was in Urban Legend so that probably wasn't that big of a role either.

He was great in Nightmare on Elm Street series and that's about it.

I Agree

I agree that he was get as Freddy in the movies and on the TV show. But some of the smaller parts that he played were just as good. He played the Urban legends teacher in Urban Legend.

Intersting I dont ever recal me saying I was a big Lizard Expert But I have said I am an expert in Giant Japanese monster movies. Heck probley all Giant monster movies. Well Nemesis to answer your question as to why it is that the older horror movies seem to have that certain magic as you put it. Is because film makers of the day were concentrating more on a good story and less on special effects. Movie studios hired good actors back then and not tv sitcom stars for their movies. Just on this board alone one of the fave horror movies of the 70s is the Exorcist and thats because the cast of the Exorcist were all good actors and the movie was very well made. The same can be said with the Omen movies good cast good directors good script. I see Hammers Dracula movies and with little specail effects they knew how to make good Dracula movies. In the late 70s and early 80s Jason and Myers and Freddy movies were just movies with kid actors many from tv sitcom movies. These movies had beter specail effects but not better acting. In other words they lacked that magic that Nemesis talks about. Scream I know what you did last summer basicly the same teen flicks. In film movies I noticed that in the 80s horror movie quality movies were declining but scifi movies were on the uprise seen that alot of better scifi movies were now being made. Its a real treat when a movie like Bram Stokers Dracula in 1992 was made a very well made Dracula movie with top notch actors great script etc. That movie had the magic. The reason less of those type of horror movies are made here in the USA is because movie studios dont want to spend the money on horror movies. This is very sad indeed if you remember it was horror movies that saved Universal from going bankrupt decades ago. The problemin horror today is that the movies are not rated R and because they arnt the studios are forced to make kiddiehorror movies like Chucky and thats sad. How I miss the old days and Drive ins. And lets not forget it was a former Magican that made the very 1st horror and scifi movies his name was Georges Melies and he was one of the founding fathers of movie making as we know it today.
Hmmm - so in a nutshell, lizard-boy, films today are all style and no substance?

I agree on the whole - but of course there is the problem these days that most of the best original ideas have been done (or, rather, the simpler ideas were unleashed in less cynical and "knowing" times into more straightforward categories) and the unavoidable misty-eyed nostalgia for days of yore clouding your receptors for new things.
