When I was around 18 (a long time ago). I had a serious drug and alcohol problem. Taking heroic doses of pain pills, snorting Cocaine and Heroin, eating too much Acid , pretty much everything but needles. Needless to say I needed HELP.
I got help and had very bad withdrawals from the coke, heroin and booze.
I am NOT clean and sober today.....but I definitely don't touch hard drugs as much as I use to. Mainly I smoke weed and drink on the weekends with my friends.
I hope everything works out for you Vodstok..

Now, i am only doing this until Feb 28, but i am hoping it will allow me to keep things more incheck, but check this out:

i fopund this online:
A person going through alcohol detox will experience many withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms can appear 6-48 hours after ceasing alcohol consumption. Mild withdrawal symptoms may include:

Shaking (in my case, very mild and not very much)
Perspiration
Depression
Bad dreams
Headaches
Vomiting
Restlessness
Loss of appetite
Insomnia

yay me. i apparently regularly consumed enough alcohol to have withdrawl symptoms. Dont i feel cool:rolleyes:
Were you drinking on a daily basis? During my years in college, I used to drink about six nights a week, so I have experienced the withdrawl symptoms, Insomnia being the worst of them. Now I probably get drunk an average of about once a week, and don't consume any alcohol besides that. If it was truly becoming a problem, it's good that you were able to recognize it and put a stop to it. It would be horrible to have to come to the point where you were unable to ever have another drink without fear of relapse. Good luck. I'm also a caffeine addict and I have yet to curb that one.

HAHAHA That's funny, because you said you did anything but needles. Then the next sentence is NEEDLESS to say. Like NEEDLE-LESS to say.

hahahahaha... sorry.

Damn, now that makes me want to quit drinking. Does PBR count? I mean it's so watered down!!! I want to stop smoking but it goes so well with drinking! Oh boy, I'm afraid if I stop everything at once, I'll piss off people I don't really want to piss off. I just don't want the side effects to be a job threat. Hmm...I should be on more anti-depressants, maybe that will help.

The only thing I thought was worth quitting was smoking. I did it, after a while, and I guess I'm better off because of it. I still LOVE the smell of secondhand smoke though. Congrats on curbing and controlling your vices, as long as you control them then everything's good.
