It was originally supposed to be cast as manson, but i think the studio had some problems with that....plus, hes not gonna pull in all the money that johnny depp would, just look at the response in this thread alone....

Personally im getting REALLY tired of JD and everyone singing his praises....he's no Orlando Bloom, but he's getting up there now...

While he may not be gothic now, he certainly was at one point. That point being one album out of all of the ones he ever made: Antichrist Superstar. That's still one of my favorite albums of all time.

Marilyn Manson is a fucking fruitcake. Why the hell would they cast some dude that got himself tit implants just to be weird as Willy Wonka?

But just to be fair, let's weigh the options...

Johnny Depp is easily one of the best actors of his generation. (I'm not talking about blockbuster action stars like Vin Diesel, I'm talking abour real actors.) He also seems to have a very keen eye for picking the best scripts and has expertly mastered a wide range of charcters in his roles. He has been in countless movies that are reapidly becoming considered classic...(Let's see... Edward Scissorhands, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, Pirates of the Carribean, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Blow, Nightmare on Elm Street, Platoon, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Donnie Brasco, Ed Wood, 9th Gate... Not to mention 21 Jump St.)

Now let's take a look at some of Manson's acting credits... Jawbreaker, Bowling for Columbine (Documentary, so no real acting there.) and Party Monster (Never seen it/heard of it).

Hmm.... A talented thespian with unlimited talent or an attention craving semi-goth rocker that has virtually no acting ability or experience whatsoever and seems to be confused about his sexuality... That's a tough call...
