The Tree of Life (2011)
Well, I'm a big Malick fan, but I must say that I was a little let down by this one. I love the size and scope of the project, but ultimately it felt intermittently stagnant and occasionally cloying. It was just...uneven. I would find myself completely in tune with the film, then suddenly forced out of it. I feel conflicted about it overall, but it feels conflicted with itself, not sure where it wants to go or what it wants to be exactly.
