Detention -8/10

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, but it did get a little too spacey towards the end.

I am ashamed to say this is my first Seijun Suzuki and all I can say is WOW.
Not what i expected at all. Wierd, illogical, hard to follow, surreal - needless to say I will be back for more..

Same here, I have only seen Youth of the Beast; a great gangster flick, filled with some interesting beautiful shots. I'm sure you'll like it too. :)

Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012)

Satan's Little Helper (2004)

As a low budget indie flick, I think this can be treated as a fantastic Halloween feature for family viewing! Found it pretty entertaining all through the way. A nice come back for Jeff Lieberman, who have made few pretty decent genre flicks back in 70's & early 80s like Squirm, Blue Sunshine & even Just before Dawn...one of my favorite 80s slasher! The only complain from my part about SLH is it's bit too long, considering its pretty simple & amusing plot line which I think could be better packed in only 60 to 70 minutes.

Thanks to Sean Keller for mentioning it on his watch list (in FB) for this year's Halloween, otherwise I haven't actually much heard about it before and it would go completely under the radar.

Storage 24 - Sci fi guff about a group of unlikable characters being stalked by an alien beastie in a storage facility.

There is really not much on offer to elevate the film above mediocre, the storyline has been done to death, the characters spend the first part of the film competing to see who is the most dickish and I didn't like the creature design.

The pace picks up a little towards the end,and a couple of splashes of humour at least make the final third watchable but it's too little too late.I think the writers got a little giddy with the final scene which felt tacked on and really didn't work.

5/10

Nice! I would strongly recommend Tokyo Drifter and Gate of Flesh. I think you'd really dig those two.
