The Last House on the Left (1972)
On their way to a rock concert, two teenagers are raped and murdered, and their attackers unknowingly take shelter in their victims' parents' house.
This was a pretty difficult movie to watch, but it was a good one nonetheless. The first half of the film captures the rape and murder of the two girls while the second half shows their parents' vengeance on the attackers. Both parts are equally intense and suspenseful. Occasionally during the film, it would switch to two police officers while cheesy music plays in the background. It sort of allowed the audience to take a breather from the very intense and sometimes disturbing nature of the main narrative, but I thought these scenes took away from the overall atmosphere. The story itself is lacking at points, but it's a pretty good movie if you can stomach the more violent scenes.
