Am I missing something?
How else are you going to light a gas lamp?
And what hapens if your candle burns out or if you trip and bust your head and are knocked senseless with a candle that went out?? what if a breeze blows it out??Then you're screwed and in a dark room with no way to see and a concussion!

I get what you're saying but you if you can't light the candle,lamp or stove without lighting the match first.
